This position is part of a cross functional team of reliability engineers responsible for the designing, engineering, and planning for all facilities and utilities related to production and infrastructure facilities, including new and retrofit projects to support production and plant operating activities. Provides technical advice on all facility and utility equipment purchases. Manages and resolves maintenance and construction related problems as required. Coordinates activities of crafts supporting facility and utility projects.

Specifically, this position will be the site’s SME on clean and dirty utilities across the site responsible for assisting with trouble shooting utility systems on an as needed basis which includes but not limited to purified water systems, clean steam generators, vapor compression stills, programmable logic controllers (PLC), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controllers and monitors. Provide investigation, reliability engineering and change control support for utility systems including investigation of deviations of utility systems and the determination of the root cause, along with the development of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Responsible for reliability engineering and change control support for small capital and expense projects for facility and utilities as necessary. Determines the scope of utility projects and writes justification and submits Request for Concurrence (RFC) for approval.  Selects contractors and executes projects. The person in this position is recognized as the subject matter expert in utilities and has the ability to make decisions with high liability. The person provides leadership and training to others to promote excellence in reliability engineering and maintenance practices as it relates to utilities equipment.  

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Utility Design and Reliability Engineering

- Utility Drawing Maintenance

- Utility Equipment Support

- Utility Equipment Validation Support

- Technical Writing (SOP's)

- Investigation of deviations (both minor and major), with responsibility to interface with Operations, Engineering, Automation, and Quality approvers.

- Leads utility improvement projects, productivity initiatives, change requests, implementation of corrective actions, and execution of investigational test protocols, as required to improve the reliability of utility equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or related field of study.

Required:

- At least 5 years of experience in engineering, reliability engineering or maintenance with experience in facility and utility equipment design including pumps, chillers, piping, WFI loops, purified water systems, clean steam generators, vapor compression stills, programmable logic controllers (PLC), humidifiers/dehumidifiers, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controllers and monitors and Building Maintenance Systems (BMS).

- Applicable Theoretical Knowledge of the Utility Processes and Systems

- In-depth Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and Maintenance Work Management Processes.

- Proficiency in the use and knowledge of PCs (Hardware & Software) including: Project Management, Word Processing, Spreadsheet Applications and Microsoft Windows platform

- Must be able to read electrical prints, P&ID's, and understand P&ID control loops.

Preferred:

- Reliability certification (e.g. CMRP, CRL, etc.)

- BAS, HVAC and instrumentation troubleshooting skills.

- Working Knowledge of Environmental, Safety Standards and Guidelines, GMP's, Governmental Regulations, Industry and Engineering Standards

- Operational Knowledge of Production and Production Related Equipment

- Operational Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance and Calibration Control Systems

- Pharmaceutical experience
