Job Details

Our standing as New Zealand's leading tertiary institution is the result of our people.  With over 5,000 staff and close to 40,000 students across four main campuses, the University of Auckland is a large and complex organisation, with an absolute commitment to ensuring the University is a healthy and safe place to work and study.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and engaging at all levels of the University, you will be responsible for leading progressive and transformational change in health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) across all functions.  Acting as a partner within the organisation you will lead a team in providing coordinated support, advice and strategies that enable compliance, continuous improvement, and best practice in the field.

You will bring exceptional communication skills to articulate and continue the development of our HSW vision. Working closely with faculty, service division and leadership teams, you will effectively roll out and promote new HSW strategies in the workplace and champion cultural change.

You will have a track record of providing advice, training and support to enhance health, safety and wellbeing compliance and culture across all levels of a large, sector leading and diverse organisation.  You will balance your operational HSW knowledge and familiarity with how technology can enable reporting and measurement of initiatives, with a desire to engage the University community, providing strategic and practical guidance to foster continuous improvement in this area.

Your proactive, action oriented, mature and professional approach will enhance your ability to influence and build credibility with stakeholders and colleagues who are engaged in a diverse spectrum of activities.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual seeking to progress their career in health, safety and wellbeing whilst making a tangible difference to our challenging and rewarding environment at The University of Auckland.

The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi and achieving equity outcomes for staff and students in a safe, inclusive and equitable environment.
