Research Assistant in Cancer Sciences
The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute was established in 2007 as the sixth research institute of The University of Queensland. The aim of the Institute is to develop a better understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of disease, and to translate that understanding into practical outcomes for patients. Based at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital teaching campus in Brisbane, the Institute has almost 300 researchers and students who work closely with clinicians in the areas of cancer, immunology and genomic medicine. UQDI is the largest partner in TRI, and is building major programs in Immunology, Cancer and Genomic Medicine research, with a particular focus on research aimed at development of new treatments. The successful appointee will conduct quality research in skin cancer, using a variety of in vitro and in vivo techniques. They will be responsible for conducting experimental investigations under the guidance of Professor Ian Frazer and other academic staff from the group. The role will also provide technical assistance to students and staff.
Applicants should possess qualifications in in the biological sciences with at least two years of practical laboratory experience including sterile tissue culture. Applicants should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career and be able to demonstrate a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 year with the possibility of extension at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207.07 - $79,964.50p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822.27- $ 93,558.47p.a.).
