Job Details
The School of Chemical Engineering offers degrees in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering, servicing an undergraduate population of over 400 students. The MSc/ME programs in Petroleum Engineering are offered part-time and full-time in the School of Chemical Engineering and provide professional training to both Australian and international students. Areas of research are often linked to research ongoing at the UQ Centre for Coal Seam Gas (UQ CCSG, http://ccsg.centre.uq.edu.au). UQ CCSG research topics cover most aspects of Petroleum Engineering relating to coal seam gas production. This includes aspects of reservoir characterisation, development and dynamic behaviour, drilling, well completions, and stimulation and enhancement technologies. Other research examines aspects of the techno-economics of gas exploitation and recovery, and field related engineering including optimisation, process control and site rehabilitation.
The role
The successful candidate will be involved in lecturing and tutoring post-graduate subjects as well as initiating and developing course/tutorial material for the MSc/ME Petroleum Engineering program. They will provide leadership in developing programs in Petroleum Engineering and support for other positions during absences.
The person
Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of Petroleum Engineering or other engineering discipline with research and publications in the area of Petroleum Engineering. The candidate should also have previously been involved in lecturing or tutoring post-graduate MSc/ME Petroleum Engineering subjects and have provided leadership within previous positions.
The candidate should provide evidence of contribution research, including external funding for applied and contract research in the area of Petroleum Engineering, and particularly the application of hydraulic fracturing to enhance recovery from coals, shales and tight gas resources. Strong modelling background in hydraulic fracturing mechanics and geomechanics are preferred.
You should also have demonstrated good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

Remuneration
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment at Academic Level A or B. Depending on the level of appointment the remuneration package will be in the range of $81,545.80 to $87,535 (Level A) or $92,142 to $109,419 (Level B) p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
