The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton invites applications to a Teaching Fellow post in ELT/TESOL, available from 11 September 2017 to 12 October 2018. Applications are invited from scholars with experience of teaching and assessing English language teacher education which include lesson planning and classroom methods.
You must have completed a PhD in a relevant field of Applied Linguistics. You will be expected to contribute to research-led teaching, and supporting student learning. You will support the delivery and ongoing development of department’s suite of MA and undergraduate programmes in Applied Linguistics and TESOL fields. Your teaching profile will also include specialist modules such as language learning theories, e-learning in the language curriculum, English as Medium of Instruction; Teaching English to Young Learners; and language testing and assessment.
In the REF 2014, Modern Languages at Southampton was ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of its research. Over the last five years, Modern Languages has built and maintained a deserved reputation as a leading centre for linguistics. Our research spans language acquisition and linguistic theory, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics and language pedagogy, with particular expertise in English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese contexts (see our website at http://www.southampton.ac.uk/ml/).
