Applications are invited for the post of Faculty Development Lead to join the Academic Unit of Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the Southampton medical student experience through the professional development of our educators and education leaders in the University, the NHS and other partner organisations in the UK and abroad.

As the post holder, you will lead and champion a Faculty Development strategy that promotes best practice and meets GMC requirements for the training of medical teachers. You will develop a high quality staff development programme that meets the needs of the wide variety of educators that work with our students, delivering key elements yourself and working with the undergraduate programme leadership team to create and foster a culture which values and promotes the professional development of teaching skills.

You will lead the Faculty’s response to key areas of GMC policy, chair the Faculty’s Education Staff Development Committee and ensure that education within the Academic Unit and wider Faculty is underpinned by the most up-to-date and rigorous pedagogic research.

Enquiries about the post can be addressed to Marcus Parry, Head of the Academic Unit of Medical Education (M.P.Parry@southampton.ac.uk), Professor Karen Morrison (K.E.Morrison@southampton.ac.uk), Associate Dean (Education & Student Experience) or Professor Shelley Parr, Director of Undergraduate (BM) Programmes (S.J.Parr@southampton.ac.uk).

The provisional interview date is 26th July 2017.
