Working within the Wilson Engineering Team, leads key automation support for various manufacturing systems such as PLC, Vision Systems and OEM systems in Manufacturing Operations. Responsible for resolution of significant automation issues and maintenance of automation systems in compliance with cGMPs, System Life Cycle, safety, and environmental regulations. Provides guidance on process control, data collection techniques, and failure mode and effects analysis. Develops strategies to optimize and ensure quality and stability of automation systems though future expansion, replacement, or upgrade. Prepares automation cost information to support necessary plans. Responsibilities will potentially include providing automation leadership on various shifts/weekend in support of Manufacturing Operations. Lead automation related deviations and implement the corrective actions.

Other responsibilities may include working as a representative of a startup or existing production team providing technical I leadership assistance in fulfilling the automation requirements for the team. For various project assignments I initiatives, the automation team member is responsible for working closely with various site I central groups in maintaining manufacturing requirements. Group supports a large spectrum of sophisticated automated systems within Manufacturing Operations; providing multiple opportunities to learn new automation technologies and make a positive impact. Provides support for site implementation and on ongoing management of serialization, track and trace, Systech Guardian and above site point of contact for SAP ATTP application.

Primary Activities:

- Initiates and leads collaborative efforts with Operations, Quality, and Technical Organizations to resolve complex problems.

- Serves as interface between business and automation engineering to resolve issues especially those requiring innovative solutions.

- Maintains automation systems in compliance with SLC, cGMPs, safety, and environmental regulations.

- Provides guidance on process control, data collection techniques, and failure mode and effects analysis.

- Develops strategies to optimize and ensure quality and stability of automation systems though future expansion, replacement, or upgrade.

- Prepares automation cost information to support necessary plans.

- Understands and supports all GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations. Periodically reviews automation documents, preventive maintenance, and SOPs to ensure compliance with GMP and safety.

- On deviations involving automation situations, develops and supports corrective actions.

- Communicates periodically with immediate manager about status of area of responsibility.

- Evaluates automated systems, and develops strategies to optimize and ensure quality and stability of automation systems through future expansion, replacement, or upgrade.

- Uses technical knowledge to assure the efficient operation of variety of automated processing and information technology systems. Leads in installing and placing new equipment into operations.

- Develops solutions for automation problems. Oversees investigations of automation anomalies to prevent recurrence.

- Participates in audits and training programs in the area of responsibility.

- On-floor support of manufacturing activities.

- Identify and implement process/equipment improvements and manufacturing efficiencies.

- Maintain technical documentation.

- Provides client services support for business area applications.

- Participates in Kaizen events.

- Provides automation technical support for site implementation and on ongoing management of serialization, track and trace, Systech Guardian and above site point of contact for SAP ATTP application.

- Provides automation technical support for Autosave to ensure automation applications are current with qualified versions of software.

- Provides automation technical support to ensure CFR Part 11 compliance in ensuring user authentication for software applications.

Qualifications

Education:

* Minimum of an Associate Degree required

*
Bachelors of Science Degree (Engineering degree preferred) or equivalent experience preferred

Required:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience (without engineering degree) in IT/Automation support of PLC/Vision system/IPC automation systems with proven ability to program/troubleshoot PLC applications in manufacturing or process engineering or equivalent.

- Minimum of one years’ experience (with engineering degree) in IT/Automation support of PLC/Vision system/IPC automation systems with proven ability to program/troubleshoot PLC applications in manufacturing or process engineering or equivalent.

- Working understanding of PLCs, HMI’s, vision systems, barcode systems and Servo-Drives.

Preferred:

- Working knowledge of the regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical applications.

- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMI’s, barcode systems and Servo-Drives.

- Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are required.

- Experience in vision systems (Systech, Cognex), PLC applications (AB, Elau), Track and Trace Serialization applications (Systech Guardian).

- Highly desired are skills in packaging technology equipment, reject/verification processes, MES, IT, and OEM equipment.

- Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodology is desired.
