Student Services Directorate

The Student Services Directorate is part of the Student Affairs Division, which also comprises the Health Service and Student Employability Centre.   The Student Services Directorate is a unit with a strong focus of providing a broad range of student services including enhancing the student experience and assisting the institution in improving student retention. It comprises of the following sub-units: the Learning Hub, Student Counselling, First-Year Engagement, Accommodation Services, Multi-faith Chaplaincy and is expected to work closely with other Directorates in the Student Affairs Division.  Services are delivered across the St. Lucia, Gatton and Herston campuses.

The role

The Student Services Advisor will work with the Manager, Student Services (Gatton) to provide a multi-functional counselling and advising service to enrolled students at the Gatton campus. The Student Services Advisor will perform duties across service areas of counselling, international student support and disability advising dependent on their professional qualifications and relevant discipline.  Applicants should hold professional qualifications in a relevant discipline and be able to provide professional services in at least one of the service areas but be able to rapidly acquire knowledge of and the skills necessary to perform the duties across all service areas. Training as well as ongoing advice and assistance will be provided by specialist teams based at the St Lucia campus.

The person

Applicants should hold professional qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Social Work/Behavioural Science/Psychology and subsequent relevant experience. A demonstrated capacity to provide professional services in at least one of the service areas is essential, as is the capacity to rapidly acquire knowledge of, and skills to perform the duties of, all service areas. Applicants will be required to have a sound understanding of the current theories and best practice in the area of their claimed expertise.  Personal qualities required for this role are high-level communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work cooperatively as a highly motivated member of a team.

Remuneration

This is a fixed term appointment at HEW Level 7 until 30 June 2018.  The remuneration package will be in the range $81,883.65 to $89,559.15 p.a, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $89,662.60 to $98,067.27 p.a.).
