UQ Advancement

Throughout its history, The University of Queensland has benefited from the support of its alumni and friends to enhance funding, to deliver world-class research and allow students to reach their full potential. The St Lucia campus rests on land gifted through the Mayne siblings and the School of Veterinary Science continues to use farmland at Pinjarra Hills donated to the University in the early 1920s.  The modern research-intensive University is supported by a partnership of significant philanthropy and leveraged grants from the government.

UQ Advancement comprises of three portfolios – Advancement Services, Development and Philanthropy, and Alumni and Community Relations. The Advancement Services team delivers data and gift services, provides constituent and prospect research and management services, manages the University’s customer relationship management system for alumni, donors and community, and manages the University’s philanthropic financial processes. The team’s activities support Advancement work across UQ to ensure success in philanthropic and fundraising effort

The role

Reporting to the Director, Advancement Services the Manager, Advancement Research and Prospect Management has two main areas of focus:

  • Overseeing all aspects of Advancement research information which is central to the successful identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and relationship monitoring of prospects and donors;
  • Designing and implementing strategies for enlarging the major and principal gift prospect donor pool through the management and delivery of a comprehensive range of constituent research.

Under the broad direction of the Director, Advancement Services, the Manager, Advancement Research and Prospect Management will develop and implement an Advancement strategy for prospect research and management. This strategy will underpin the key objectives of a major fundraising campaign to significantly increase philanthropic support in line the The University of Queensland’s Strategic Plan and UQ Advancement’s strategic framework.

Working closely with the UQ Advancement leadership team and fundraising staff, this position is integral to UQ achieving its philanthropic and fundraising goals.

The person

Applicants should possess significant expertise with prospect research and management methodology and practice; a working understanding of the principles of philanthropy and fundraising and its application to research institutes and universities; demonstrated ability to conceptualise and develop pro-active prospecting methodologies to support organisational goals; experience working in a highly complex environment and the ability to effectively communicate with University staff at varying levels.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,811 - $104,214 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $108,589 - $121,930 p.a.).
