Help Facilitate Change in a Developing Local Authority

A London based Local Authority which is going through a redesign to modernise its Social Services is looking to take on an experienced Team Manager to help support the changes. This is an excellent opportunity to help support the development of the Local Authority's Children's Services and really have an impact on how the service operates in the future. By taking on this post you will be a part of a change which will bolster the department's performance and ultimately improve the outcome for children, all of which will hugely enhance your employment prospects.

The Local Authority, which is transitioning to a model similar to that of the Hackney Model, is ultimately aiming for Social Workers to receive more support so that they are able to focus on the children. As a Team Manager you will be managing small teams of 6 Social Workers and will have the aid of a Business Support Officer who will deal with your admin leaving you free to focus on the Social Work. You will be accountable for the performance of the team but will have the autonomy to make the changes you think are necessary. Group Supervision sessions will also ensure that you will have an overview of current cases and challenges your team members are currently facing so you can support your team appropriately.

In regards to your own training and development the opportunities are excellent. You will have the opportunity to attend the Firstline Leadership Development Programme. You will also be supported by your Service Manager and the Active Leadership Groups where you will be able to discuss the progress of your team and seek further advice from a number of experienced senior managers.

To be considered for this post you should have managed a front line Social Work team.
