Salary:  £19,485 per annum

Full Time Fixed Term (for 6 months)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Customer Service Advisor to work in our Student Services Centre, on a working pattern between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm. This role is offered on a fixed term basis for 6 months to provide additional support for the Centre over our key business period.

Working in one of the largest Professional Services departments in the University, you will be responsible for providing advice, information and guidance to University of Southampton students and customers on a wide array of subjects, including student fees and funding, accommodation, graduation, careers events and ID cards. The role requires successful candidates to have the flexibility to work as part of our customer services team, and in a more specialist role providing financial information and assistance to students in hardship on a one to one basis.

The role involves a great deal of interaction with our students and the successful candidates must have:

  • excellent communication skills
  • significant experience of customer service
  • experience of dealing with sensitive, personal information
  • ability to positively influence teamwork
  • the ability to be able to work alone and within a team

*Student Services is one of the largest Professional Services departments in the University. We provide a ‘one stop shop’ providing advice, guidance and information to University of Southampton students, as well as career advice, counselling services, support for disabled students, and help with VISAs and financial issues. Our services also include an Early Years Centre providing a childcare facility for students and staff, Residences Support, offering support in halls out of hours from 1800-0800 and some of the biggest and best leisure facilities in the area.
