The role

We seek applications from suitably qualified candidates who will focus on the development of optical systems for the measurement and manipulation of the spatial, spectral and temporal properties of light in multimode optical fibre. The position is funded under an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project in collaboration with the University of Southampton and industrial partners Nokia (Bell Labs, US) and Finisar Australia. The person

The applicant should possess a PhD and/or postdoctoral experience in a relevant area of physics or engineering. Ideally candidates will be experienced with Fourier optics (especially SLMs), multimode fibre optics and free-space optics. Strong programming skills are desirable, particularly in Matlab, .NET, C, C++ and CUDA. The successful applicant should have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly productive research career and possess good general research skills and writing abilities.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years available at Research Academic Level A or Level B.  Appointment level will be commensurate to qualifications and experience.

For Research Academic Level A the remuneration package will be in the range $64,533 - $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504 - $102,416 p.a.).

For Research Academic Level B the remuneration package will be in the range $92,143 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).
