Marketing Officer in Outreach Team

Job Purpose This new post will play a key role in supporting the University’s widening participation and outreach agenda. Birmingham already has an extensive outreach programme, which engages with thousands of young people and their schools each year. The Marketing Officer will bring their knowledge and expertise to work with the Outreach team with the aim of automating, refining and evaluating the impact of communications activities.

As an experienced Marketing professional, you will be comfortable planning communications across a range of channels, in particular CRM. You will have experience of working as part of a team, but equally be able to use your own initiative to suggest new approaches and ways of working. An appreciation of data and the role it plays in driving a CRM strategy is vital, and the post holder would be expected to utilise data in all aspects of the role, from segmentation through to developing key messaging strategies. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage others in your CRM vision are therefore essential. Person Specification Essential
• Experience of working in a dedicated marketing role
• Significant experience of working with CRM systems
• Experience of developing and implementing high level CRM campaigns
• Experience of leading on and implementing CRM related projects on a standalone basis
• University degree or relevant equivalent experience
• Experience of managing campaigns across a range of channels, including web and social media
• An understanding of data protection legislation and compliance, in particular how this applies to students aged under 18 years old.
• Experience of working with complex data sets, in particular to interpret data to inform future activity
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills;
• Excellent written communications skills
• A proactive approach to problem solving and difficult situations;
• The ability to adapt to new or demanding situations, prioritising workloads and managing deadlines;
• Accuracy and attention to detail;
• Excellent interpersonal skills whether dealing with students, academic staff, external organisations or other members of the office team
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
• Flexibility, tact and diplomacy
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Desirable
• Experience of the Hobsons Radius CRM system
• Knowledge and understanding of UK education system
• Understanding of widening participation policy
• Experience of working within the HE / education sector
