The University of Bristol is looking to appoint an outstanding candidate as Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences who can provide inspirational leadership and strategic management within the Faculty.

This is a key academic leadership position within the University of Bristol, supporting the attainment of the University’s vision and overall objectives, and participating in the collective formulation and delivery of the University’s academic strategy.  We are looking for a proven track record of excellent partnership working both internally and externally as well as academic excellence within chosen field with the ability to engage, lead and influence across wide range of inter-faculty disciplines.  The Dean will also have a deep commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The creation of the new Faculty of Life Sciences in August 2018 brings together research and teaching activity at all scales of the life sciences: molecular, cellular, tissue, organ systems, behavioural, social and societal.  The new Faculty of Life Sciences will compromise the School of Biological Sciences; School of Biochemistry; School of Cellular and Molecular Medecine; School of Experimental Psychology; and School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience.

With a population of over 400,000, Bristol is the largest city in the South West and the region’s leading centre for business, culture and education.  Bristol was named the best city to live in by the Sunday Times in their ‘Best Places to Live Guide 2017’.

The closing date for applications is Monday 21 August 2017 at midnight.

The interview process will take place over two days on 16 and 17 October 2017.
