Job Details

Based in the world leading research team in the Advanced Composites Collaboration for Innovation and Science (ACCIS) group within the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol this is an exciting opportunity to join a strong team developing new green and high performance cellulose fibres for use in composite materials.

You will develop new fibres, spun from ionic liquids, and characterise their physical properties. Using advanced techniques, such as Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction you will analyse the physical properties of the fibres. Working with a team of other researchers, and in collaboration with Imperial College, you will help develop and optimize these properties.

You will have at least a first degree and preferably a PhD in Engineering/Materials Science (or closely related discipline) and have good experience of spectroscopic/X-ray diffraction analysis of fibres, as well as a wider knowledge of fibres and composites.

This post is being offered on a full time, open-ended post funded initially until June 2019.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place on/around week commencing 14th August 2017.

Informal enquiries can be made to: Professor Stephen Eichhorn se17541@bristol.ac.uk
