Senior Officer: Residence Head (post level 9) (2 positions)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Handle overall management of the first year male and female residences.
  • Implement the official Residence Manual.
  • Initiate, coordinate and implement college programmes as directed by the Head of Department (HOD).
  • Implement and coordinate the peer mentor (PM) system as directed by Head of Department (HOD).
  • Create and initiate a strong academic and inclusively diverse culture.
  • Assist first years in terms of integration in the diverse environment.
  • Manage the effective coordination of the Peer Educators system in liaison with the Residence Committee (RC) First Year.
  • Plan for first years’ arrival in liaison with Residence Committee (RC) / Residence Assistants (RA) first years.
  • Plan and monitor the residence orientation programme.
  • Manage the elections of first year committees.

    Inherent requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of the Residence Management system.
  • Three (3) years’ experience of University residence environment.

    •  

    Required competencies:

  • Computer skills, with knowledge of Excel, Mail merging and PowerPoint.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s parallel-medium and richly diverse environment.

    Recommendations:

  • Knowledge of other African languages.

    •  

    Assumption of duties:
    As soon as possible.
