The Faculty of Science

is looking for a Technical Team Leader Position for the Ecology, Evolution and Behavioural Biology space within the School of Biological Sciences (SBS).

This position is a great opportunity for those that have leadership aspirations and are looking for the next step in their career. You will be responsible for the ongoing coaching, career development and performance enhancement of your direct reports. The role has strong strategic input into the Schools operations, helping to determine the future for SBS.

Other responsibilities:

  • Provide key support to the Academic Team Leader to ensure school teaching courses and research labs are effectively managed.

  • Lead supervise and support a team of technicians in accordance with University policy, process and delegated authorities.

  • Undertake specialist responsibilities where determined by the Technical Manager.

  • Provide a strong contribution to the high standards of health and safety.

Our ideal candidate:

  • You will have a BSc or graduate degree in Biological Sciences or related subject area.

  • At least two years’ experience in managing a team of people, with the ability to effectively communicate, give constructive feedback and resolve issues when required.

  • Have a commitment to health and safety - ideally you will also have experience managing laboratory safety.

  • You must be able to use your initiative, multi-task and remain flexible to change.

  • Experience with diving, boating and field trip safety would be preferred but not essential.

This is a professional staff level 5 position.
