The Department of Classics and Ancient History invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a temporary teaching fellowship in Ancient History of twenty-two months’ duration from 1 September 2017. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department’s provision of teaching at undergraduate level in Ancient History. Candidates should normally have received their PhD by the date of appointment.

The postholder will be expected to contribute to and develop the department’s provision of teaching at undergraduate postgraduate level. During 2017-2018, the Teaching Fellow will be expected to teach five modules from the following list: Introduction to Ancient History; Age of Augustus; Approaches to Ancient History; Literary Sources for Ancient History; Non-Literary Sources for Ancient History; Myth and History in 5th Century Athens; The Persians. The Teaching Fellow will also be responsible for supervising some final-year dissertations.

The appointment start date is 1 September 2017.

Applicants are asked to submit a sample of their research along with their application, of up to 8,000 words.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified on or around Wednesday 2 August 2017 and be invited to interview.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place on Monday 7 August 2017.
