Job Details

The research theme is the construction and application of a novel biodevice based in natural polymers.
The Thematic Project "Prospective cohort of the gestational hyperglycemia triad, 'pregnancy-specific urinary incontinence' and profile (morphological, functional, biochemical, molecular and omic) of 'gestational hyperglycemic myopathy' as a predictor of urinary incontinence and muscular dysfunction 6-12 months postpartum; And translational research on the impact of natural rubber latex biodevice with mesenchymal stem cells on postpartum muscle regeneration of diabetic rats", funded by FAPESP (2016/01743-5) and coordinated by Titular Professor Marilza Vieira Cunha Rudge, offers vacancies for postdoctoral fellows willing to collaborate in the construction and application of biodevice using natural polymers.
As part of his/her activities, the post-doctoral fellow will carry studies in vitro using stem cells, physical-chemical characterization of natural polymers and surface studies and application of the new device in vivo by means of a surgical procedure.
The fellow will develop his/her research activities in the UNIPEX (Unit of experimental research) of the Faculty of Medicine of Botucatu.
Communication between the post-doctoral fellow and several teams, working in different sub-projects of the Thematic, will be a part of his/her everyday activities, since information delivered by the lab teams and by the clinical research team must follow a continuous, bi-directional, flow.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have obtained their PhD degree within the last 7 (seven) years, in Brazil or abroad, preferentially in Materials Science and Technology, with emphasis on polymeric biomaterials, proven experience in tissue regeneration and use of natural polymers such as scaffolds in tissue regeneration. It is also necessary that the candidate has experience in cells culture, biocompatibility and bioactivity analyzes, physico-chemical characterization, surface studies and surgical procedure to implant the biodevice in the muscles of interest.
Interested candidates must send an e-mail to the correspondent supervisor with the following documents:

1) Letter of interest for the position;

2) Short CV containing academic degree, publications, and documents showing expertise in the field; and

3) Letter of recommendation. Information regarding the fellowship is available at www.fapesp.br/en/postdoc.

Applicants should submit the application before August 29, 2017.

The e-mail subject must include the text "PD - in natural polymeric biomaterials and tissue regeneration", with an attached pdf file of 2 MB at most.
The selection will be based on the candidate's curriculum with proven experience in the topics required through publications in the area and in the potential contribution to the area of the Thematic Project that integrates this FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship. The candidate will receive an e-mail informing if he/she was indicated or not to the post-doctoral fellowship.
