Job Details
Recognized as one of Canada’s most exciting universities to watch for in the future, the University of Windsor is undertaking the most significant transformation in its history. Located in the heart of Canada's Border City, across the river from Detroit, Michigan, at the centre of North America, UWindsor is a comprehensive post-secondary institution that combines excellence in teaching, research, and practice with a commitment to building stronger communities, to treating people with respect and dignity, and to addressing pressing societal needs. Faculty renewal, curriculum innovation, and major clusters of excellence in research and creative activity are at the heart of the University’s strategic mandate with the Province of Ontario. Over $300 million has been invested in new facilities and green spaces, and a new campus location for the creative arts and social work in reimagined historic buildings in the centre of the city is creating an unprecedented interface between the University and the community.
The University’s more than 500 full-time faculty, including 50 new faculty members hired in the last three years, are part of the University’s Faculties and Professional Schools which include Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Science, Human Kinetics, Education, Law, Engineering, Nursing, Business, and Graduate Studies. Offering more than 150 undergraduate programs and over 70 graduate programs to the more than 15,500 undergraduate and graduate students, 20% of whom come from outside of Canada, the University is focused on its mission of enabling people to make a better world through education, scholarship, research, and engagement.
As a progressive, student-centred university that pursues pure and applied research, the challenges of communities and a world in transition inform our teaching, scholarly, and creative endeavours. Academic and student services emphasize independent learning, interdisciplinary opportunities, and flexibility in degree completion pathways within a highly supportive environment. UWindsor has identified four areas of research focus that are both highly relevant to the Windsor-Essex region and far wider in reach in a globalized world: the health of the Great Lakes; the challenges of borders and how people and goods move across them; sustainable industry including automotive manufacturing; and creating viable, healthy, and safe communities. Deeply rooted in community, UWindsor lives out its belief that universities must contribute to the betterment of society; that they are responsible for developing and refining creative ways of sustaining vibrant communities. Through partnerships with community organizations and local government, UWindsor supports local communities and citizens while providing students with diverse learning and service opportunities, locally, nationally, and internationally. The University of Windsor has begun a search for the University’s seventh President and Vice-Chancellor. The University seeks a leader who can build upon this foundation and take the institution to new heights along this trajectory of transformation. The President and Vice-Chancellor will guide the institution in providing the education pathways that students of today and tomorrow are seeking, in pursuing and applying research and creative strengths to a community’s and society’s greatest challenges, and in helping to enrich the economic and cultural fabric of the region. This is a six-year renewable term position offering competitive compensation and benefits. To learn more, please call Anna Stuart, Katherine Frank, or Jason Ozon at 1.866.822.6022, or submit your application online at: www.kbrs.ca/Careers/11795. For the mandate and profile see the Executive Brief at: www.uwindsor.ca/president-executive-brief. The University of Windsor is a comprehensive research and teaching institution with more than 15,500 students. We are a welcoming community committed to equity and diversity in our teaching, learning, and work environments. In pursuit of the University's Employment Equity Plan, members from the designated groups (Women, Aboriginal Peoples, Visible Minorities, Persons with Disabilities, and Sexual Minorities) are encouraged to apply and to self-identify. If you need an accommodation for any part of the application and hiring process, please notify Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette. Should you require further information on accommodation, please visit the website of the Office of Human Rights, Equity & Accessibility (OHREA) at www.uwindsor.ca/ohrea. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
