Psychometrician in Medical Education Assessment

An opportunity has emerged for a Psychometrician to join the team within the medical programme directorate in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

Working with the Director of Assessment and playing an integral role, you will be responsible for data analysis and quality control of assessment data from the medical programme, ensuring the effective delivery of assessment reports to students, course leaders (MPD) and other stakeholders.

Candidates with a strong interest in educational assessment and/or medical education is required to assist with the development of new assessment processes associated with the training of medical doctors.

You will bring significant expertise in psychometrics, statistics and appropriate research methodology qualifications and experience with statistical packages and large databases. It is essential that you hold a masters qualification in psychometric measurement, however candidates with a Ph.D. in psychological/educational assessment will also be strongly considered. 

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in educational assessment research within a tertiary institution or within a public sector environment, combined with a working knowledge of Item Response Theory or RASCH measurement model.  Scripting in R coding or other relevant language/ statistical tools will be advantageous.  The Medical Programme Directorate is a small, friendly, supportive team of both academic clinicians and professional staff, responsible for the administration of the medical programme.  We also welcome applications from someone who is concurrently involved in PhD studies or similar and has an interest in collaboration for academic research and publication.

You will enjoy working collaboratively, be skilled in communicating and be confident in dealing with senior staff.  Your ability to work independently enjoys working with data, excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to new assessment approaches such as progress testing will be key to this role.
