Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Primary Care

This post is a research post within the CanTest Collaborative. This Collaborative of four UK institutions, plus four international partners, has been funded by CRUK for clinical cancer detection research in the UK and internationally (www.cantest.org). The overall research task is to examine which tests for cancer or risk of future cancer (such as blood tests, imaging tests, decision support tools etc.) can be performed in primary care. This includes existing tests, tests currently in secondary care, and new or emerging tests. We will examine five broad aspects of tests in the whole collaborative: do they perform adequately; are they acceptable to clinicians; are they acceptable to patients; are there specific safety issues arising from them; is usage of the test supported on health-economic grounds?

You are expected to lead on one or more of these aspects over a series of candidate tests.

You will be able to develop your own disciplinary and research skills, but also progress towards successful application for a post-doctoral fellowship in the latter part of the post. We also expect you to contribute to and teach within our newly established International School for Cancer Detection Research in Primary Care.
