We’re looking for a knowledgeable and energetic marketing professional to join XJTLU’s University Marketing and Communication team, focusing on International Business School Suzhou at XJTLU.  The Marketing Manager will develop and implement innovative strategies and initiatives that will achieve the growth and reputational objectives of the School.  The ideal candidate is both strategic and “hands-on,” ready to roll up his/her sleeves to get project work completed to impeccable standards.  The incumbent is well-grounded in marketing best practices, has extensive experience in leading multi-cultural and international marketing initiatives, leads effectively through influence, and has passion for education and international engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement marketing and communication plans and programmes to support IBSS degree programs, executive/open education, research, corporate engagement and knowledge transfer, establishing appropriate key performance indicators and other measurements of success;
  • Develop and administer marketing budget/s and monitor spending, variances and returns on investment;
  • Oversee and/or implement a variety of market research initiatives including information/marketing intelligence on the markets in which the School operates, competitive intelligence, etc.;
  • Develop and maintain IBSS’ image, brand, identity and profile;
  • Contribute to student recruitment strategy and ensure that it feeds into the School’s planning and budgeting, marketing, student number and course planning processes;
  • Co-develop recruitment fair and school visiting programmes; prepare bespoke campaign material ahead of attending educational fairs and evaluating fairs and other strategies for future inclusion in programme;
  • Help develop and manage the School’s advertising, communication, promotional events, entries and materials, including marketing merchandise, ensuring that they are consistent, appropriate and up-to-date;
  • Manage the School’s web content and associated digital marketing initiatives;
  • Develop and implement the School’s social media strategy;
  • Work extensively with academic staff, students and alumni to develop content, stories, and other material for websites, brochures, content marketing initiatives, campaigns, newsletters, etc.;
  • Build and administer IBSS’ constituent relationship marketing database which includes client and prospective client information, mailing lists, etc., coordinating with colleagues throughout the School and the University;
  • Contribute towards the development and promotion of new marketing opportunities with companies, clients, partners, agencies, institutions, as appropriate;
  • Actively share best practices across the University and contribute to the marketing and brand development of the University;
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships both internally and externally;
  • Direct and supervise the work of marketing officers and assigned project teams, as appropriate;
  • Such other duties, commensurate with the function of the position, as might be allocated from time to time.


This job description is neither exhaustive nor prescriptive but will develop in the light of changing circumstances in consultation with the post-holder.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in business or marketing; MBA, master’s degree in marketing or business communication, CIM Diploma or equivalent postgraduate qualification/s are preferred;
  • Ideally of five years of experience in marketing management in a corporate or institutional setting;
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese;
  • Superior marketing and business writing skills are essential; excellent oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are also required;
  • Proven track record in planning and administering similar comprehensive integrated marketing programmes;
  • Significant experience with digital marketing is preferred;
  • Experience working with creative teams to develop complex projects such as collateral, videos, websites or advertising;
  • Experience managing public relations and promotional strategies including developing press releases, coordinating media outreach and organizing promotional events; and
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally; ability to work extended and flexible hours including evenings or weekends.

  • Skillful leader with good judgment who can provide direction in planning, organizing and coordinating activities and project teams;
  • Creative and flexible with ability to develop new approaches to advance goals and objectives;
  • Tactful and enthusiastic with a “can-do” attitude; able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment under public scrutiny; and
  • Ability to think strategically, solve problems and take responsibility for decisions; welcomes opportunities for feedback and is “coachable.”
