IBSS Business Engagement Manager / Senior Business Engagement Manger

The role of the Business Engagement Manager is to:

1. Deliver School objectives in business engagement, in the region, nationally and internationally.

2. Enhance the brand and reputation of the School.

3. Forge multi layered business partnerships across the School’s teaching and research programmes.

4. Be the first point of contact for businesses concerning potential strategic partnerships and lead on the development of these.

5. Support development activities of business facing research and knowledge transfer centres.

6. Support the activities of academics with respect to business engagement.

7. Liaise with international partners to leverage international business engagement.

8. Contribute to the work of the School Advisory Board as required.

9. Develop and implement the strategy to enhance the employability, personal development and career opportunities of students and alumni.

10. Build and strengthen the intellectual and emotional ties with alumni, employers and other strategic partners worldwide in order to develop and maintain long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.

11. Oversee the management of events involving business engagement, such as conferences, guest lectures, knowledge transfer showcases as well as the organisation of events such as academic conferences.

12. Develop and manage the fundraising activities of the School in liaison with the Dean.

13. Support the development of the brand and reputation of the University as a whole.

14. Support the transfer of best practice within the University as a whole.

15. Support University activities as required.

 

Accountable to Line Manager: Dean of IBSS or his/her delegated senior staff at IBSS

 

Key responsibilities

1. Leadership and Innovation

  • To lead the development and implementation of a business engagement and employability strategy for the School.
  • To lead communications to ensure that alumni and employers are encouraged and enabled to maintain a long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with the School.
  • To work with academics to support the dissemination of research through school based conferences and events.
  • To review and improve the services offered by the School to help students maximise their chances of securing appropriate work placement experiences and employment after graduation.
  • To support the development and implementation of work based learning so that all students are able to access and benefit from this opportunity.
  • To lead the development and implementation of  the School alumni strategy to ensure appropriate services are delivered locally, nationally and globally and with a focus on developing life long relationship with opportunities for raising the School profile, employer engagement and fundraising.
  • To work with the Dean and the School Manager to increase fundraising activities and develop corporate partnerships.
  • To contribute to the wider profession through active engagement with appropriate networks and professional bodies (such as AGCAS, AGR, AMBA, EFMD, ABS, AACSB).
  • To be responsible and accountable for the business engagement budget, maintaining up to date and accurate information of forecasts vs. plans, taking proactive action to resolve issues, and escalating when appropriate.
  • To monitor the competition, exploit innovative commercial opportunities for the School.
  • To build strong networks across the University to facilitate learning, best practice sharing and team working.

 

2. Marketing and Recruitment

  • To be responsible for the strategic positioning of the School with respect to business engagement
  • To benchmark the services /offer with others and share best practice.
  • To understand, and support the development of, the marketing strategy for the wider School, and help to shape and deliver this.

 

3. Customer Experience

  • To take the strategic lead in managing external relationships at all levels
  • To support the business engagement working group to ensure that every customer contact is owned and managed.
  • To take a leading role in monitoring and understanding the needs and satisfaction of customers, and communicating this to all engaged in delivery.
  • To support MBA students for utilising their business links

 

4. Systems and Quality

  • To manage the collection of accurate and timely data for accreditation (such as AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB) and ranking exercises (career destinations and alumni data).
  • To measure and report on service quality and impact, managing the gathering of customer feedback and identifying key performance indicators, to include those relating to ethics and sustainable development.

 

5. Flexibility

  • Aspects of the role will require the post holder to work unsociable hours, particularly evenings (frequently) and weekends (frequently).
  • The job description is neither exhaustive nor prescriptive but will develop, in consultation with the post holder, as circumstances change.
  • The post-holder is required to undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post, as required from time to time.

 

Salary range: negotiable and competitive
