Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical (preferably power orientation), Mechanical, Chemical, or Marine.
Required Experience and Skills:

- Six (6) or more years of technical management experience related to industrial/utility plant operations, engineering and/or maintenance including steam/electricity/chilled water generation and distribution.

- Minimum three (3) years of concurrent line experience, with people management responsibility

- Highly developed communication, leadership, and teamwork skills

- Excellent customer service skills.

- Documented experience as a strong performer in current and past positions

- Ability to handle and prioritize a large number of simultaneous assignments and quickly adapt to changes in business priorities

- Ability to quickly address issues and develop solutions to minimize compliance risk and improve utility reliability

- Program management skills with an understanding of strategic vision and significant attention to detail

- Ability to both think critically as well as communicate effectively

- Experience with financial and budget tasks including profit and capital planning

- Technical problem-solving abilities

- Working knowledge of OSHA Industrial standards

- Experience using MS Excel and regression analysis
Preferred Experience and Skills:

- Professional Designations: Professional Engineering License, Certified Energy Manager

- One to three years of experience with one or more Merck West Point utility systems

- Experience in dealing with agencies and management of professionals outside of Merck

- Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt certification or equal experience in application

- Knowledge and experience in project and facilities management. Understanding of and experience with Merck capital and profit planning processes.

- Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 and 1910.119, and NFPA 70E and 110

- Completion of OSHA 30 hour training

- Experience using PI Process Book, MAXIMO and analytical modeling tools
