The Associate Director, Utilities Business Integrator is responsible for providing functional business support for the West Point utility supply, the largest site utility operation in Merck. Responsibilities include financial planning/budgeting, utility sourcing/purchase interface, operational planning, support for maintenance and EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) program management, materials/supplies purchase management, and administrative support. Coordinates requests/plant requirements with appropriate site departments/external suppliers including; Purchasing, Finance, Global Safety & Environment (GSE), Maintenance & Utilities Engineering, Human Resources etc.

This position leads the utility operational planning/modeling and profit planning development process and supports capital planning. Provides ongoing budget/performance reporting and monitoring requirements and maintains associated documentation. Manages utility electric, gas contracts for the site, and understands contracts/utility tariff requirements. Administers power plant Spare Parts program, and supports utility preventative maintenance (PM) program requirements including power plant calibration and test program, job plan development/updates, job planning, and performance tracking.

The Associate Director, Utilities Business Integrator directs the activities of up to three salaried personnel and PM program partners/contractors and is responsible for recruiting, development and performance management of direct staff.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

- BA/BS in Business Administration, Engineering or Computer Science/Technology
Required Experience and Skills:

- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a full range of plant operation administration including operations, maintenance, materials management and work measurement and controls

- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills

- Excellent customer service skills

- Documented experience as a strong performer in current and past positions

- Ability to handle and prioritize a large number of simultaneous assignments and quickly adapt to changes in business priorities

- Ability to quickly address issues and develop solutions

- Experience with financial and budget tasks including profit and capital planning

- Technical problem-solving abilities

- Experience with SAP/MAXIMO and maintenance planning tools

- Experience using MS Excel and regression analysis
Preferred Experience and Skills:

- One year supervisory experience

- One year of experience with Merck in finance or utility/maintenance service organization

- Experience dealing with external suppliers.

- Understanding of and experience with Merck capital and profit planning processes.

- Experience using analytical modeling/planning tools including statistical, analytical tools (Regressions)

- Experience with MAXIMO.

- Lean, Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or equal experience in application
