The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane. 

The role

The successful applicant will work as part of the School’s UQ VETS Gatton Production Animal clinical team. Their role will be to contribute to the production animal clinical and teaching programs and to partake in an ambulatory service to the farm units at the campus and external herd health clients.  In this regard the person will be on the after hour on-call roster. The position will also contribute to clinical research projects within the School.

The person

Applicants must have a degree in Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) registrable in Queensland together with clinical expertise in production animal practice. The successful applicant must have clinical experience in delivery of rural practice veterinary services or equivalent and should have strong problem-solving skills necessary to handle a variety of client cases.

Remuneration

This is a full time, continuing Clinical Academic appointment at level A or B. The remuneration will be 

  •  Level A – $64,533.- $87,535., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504 - $102,416 p.a.)

  •  Level B - $92,142 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).
