Invitation for Expressions of Interest

Associate Counsellor for University of Bristol Student Counselling Service

We are seeking experienced and qualified Associate Counsellors to offer individual counselling to students within the University of Bristol Student Counselling Service (UOB SCS). Associate Counsellors would become part of a ‘bank’ of professionals, available to offer blocks of up to 6 sessions of counselling on an adhoc basis, at times when demand is high. Although this could occur at any time of the year, it is anticipated that most work will be available in University Term time from October to December, January to March and April to June.

Associate Counsellors would be expected to work on the main University campus, to be available to offer a minimum of one six session block to a minimum of three clients, within any given academic year (i.e. a minimum of 18 sessions overall). Priority would be given to counsellors who are able to

  • offer a block of 6 Saturdays between February and March,
  • offer some evening working Monday to Thursday
  • be most readily available and flexible.

Associate counsellors would be responsible for organising their own professional insurance and clinical supervision.

This work is offered on a consultancy basis and therefore requires the Associate Counsellor to be registered as self-employed. Counsellors would be paid a fee in line with a J grade counsellor working in SCS.

Associate counsellors would be required to attend an orientation session within each academic year that they work in the service.

Closing date midnight on Monday 14th August 2017

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 22nd August 2017

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
