In the Faculty of Health Science we have an exciting opportunity for a part-time computer science Research Fellow to work with a computer scientist, clinicians and movement scientists on a home-based falls identification programme. The researcher will based at Southampton University Hospital and will join a multidisciplinary group working on the SPHERE projects led by Professor Ann Ashburn.

We are seeking a computer scientist with previous research experience of movement capture through digital video and body-worn sensors to work with the SPHERE Health team in Southampton. This role will contribute to the design and implementation of data analytics and machine learning solutions for healthcare. The ideal candidate will be expected to have research experiences in data and knowledge engineering as well as machine learning and data analytics. The post holder must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team and therefore be skilled in communicating with and working alongside non-computer specialists.
The work is funded by EPSRC and is conducted in collaboration with Bristol and Reading Universities. SPHERE is led by Professor Ian Craddock at the University of Bristol. At Southampton, the Principal Research Fellow is Dr Emma Stack and the Chief Investigator Professor Ann Ashburn.

Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
