Assistant Financial Accountant

The Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand. We are seeking a superb communicator to work as part of the Faculty’s finance team to provide financial and management accounting support. The role will involve providing accurate advice and analysis of financial information in line with the Universities policies. Other elements of the role include – project accounting, purchase requisitioning, invoicing, financial budget reporting and planning and compliance with internal audit processes.

Our ideal candidate will:

• Be a fantastic communicator with excellent written and verbal skills. You will be able to translate complex financial information in a way that is clear and easy to understand for people with varying backgrounds of financial literacy.

• Possess high-level interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate this through relationship management, advocacy and negotiation with a diverse range of people.

• You will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant tertiary qualification and preferably be working towards a chartered accountant qualification.

• 2-5 years’ experience working in a relevant role with demonstrated knowledge of accounting best practice.

• Have excellent computer literacy skills including excel. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Finance/SAP/Oracle would be an advantage.
