HEAD: STUDENT ADMINISTRATION
PEROMNES POST LEVEL 6

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic management of the Division’s human resources, stakeholder management and budget control;

  • Planning and organisation of orientation of new students (undergraduate and postgraduate);

  • Management of all processes within student administration (undergraduate and postgraduate) for example, but not limited to, applications, selection, registration, examination, results, and graduation ceremonies;

  • Secretary of the Faculty Board meetings;

  • Member of the applicable Faculty committees;

  • Compilation of the yearbook;

  • Implementation of Teaching and Learning Committee decisions.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • An appropriate Bachelor’s degree;

  • At least 10 years’ experience in student administration of which three years should be at management level in academic/student administration;

  • Extensive knowledge of and insight into the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;

  • General management knowledge and experience;

  • Knowledge of financial and human resources management.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;

  • Decision making and prioritising abilities;

  • Conflict resolution skills;

  • Skilled in the use of electronic media;

  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft packages;

  • Organisational skills;

  • Appropriate language and communication skills;

  • Outstanding ability to work under pressure and function independently.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • A qualification (degree) in Management;

  • Experience in budget and project management;

  • Experience in the use of an electronic student database.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 617 910 to R 766 527 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
