The role

The successful appointee will manage the group of Prof. A.E. Rowan within the AIBN and conduct world leading research into materials and translational science. The appointee will contribute to research strategy, funding applications and graduate and student recruitment as well as assist in the supervision and training of internship, masters and research higher degree students. Additionally, the appointee will manage the laboratory, including purchase and installation of the laboratory facilities, laboratory and instrument training, space management, monitoring research project funding and development of new research areas.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of chemistry or biotechnology with at least one year of postdoctoral experience. You should  have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of materials science and its applications and teaching and training skills at undergraduate and graduate levels. An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as experience in procurement practices and establishment of research areas and laboratories is essential.  Experience in biomedical translation, quality control, research management and laboratory management will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic level B for three (3) years with the possibility of extension. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,142 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $104,666 - $128,020 p.a.).
