    The South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) is owned by the three South Australian universities (University of Adelaide, Flinders University and University of South Australia), Charles Darwin University, and TAFE SA. SATAC manages centralised application and admissions processes on behalf of the owners and on a fee for service basis for other institutions.

    The Applications and Assessment team within SATAC is comprised of approximately 30 staff responsible for the provision of efficient and effective centralised application and admissions services for institutional clients. SATAC collects and processes more than 100,000 applications annually across distinct services that process applications for undergraduate and postgraduate courses by domestic and overseas students, TAFE SA courses by domestic students and equity scholarships for undergraduate students. The services administer selection processes for over 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and over 1200 courses offered by TAFE SA.

    Working under general direction the Lead Assessor (Specialist) performs and leads specialist assessment activities which may involve non-standard, infrequent or boutique assessment tasks across a wide range of applications. The Lead Assessor (Specialist) serves as an expert to assist Assessors and Lead Assessors in their use of resources relating to specialist and overseas assessment. Negotiations about timing, volume and nature of assigned tasks will be conducted with the Deputy Manager (Assessment) with input from Lead Assessors. The incumbent in this role is expected to apply continuous improvement principles to their work, including collecting feedback and communicating suggestions related to assessment activities and resources.

    Salary: (HEO5) $67,262 - $75,057 per annum. Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply. Term of position: This continuing position is available immediately. 

     

    Position requirements

    To be successful you should have:

    Essential

    1. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and respond to changing priorities in a complex work environment
    2. Knowledge of overseas and Australian secondary and tertiary education systems and qualifications
    3. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team
    4. Demonstrated ability to balance attention to detail with the need to meet tight deadlines
    5. Proven resourcefulness applying existing policies and principles to new problems
    6. Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

     

    Desirable

    • Experience in tertiary administration, preferably admissions

     

    Qualification/s

    • Tertiary qualifications; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education or training
