Working in close collaboration with the Research and Development group, this position is responsible for overseeing the conduct of animal studies leading to licensure of veterinary vaccines and pharmaceuticals, primarily for swine and bovine but also including other species such as equine and canine. Duties include general care of animals as well as specialized techniques to perform various studies, as required. This position oversees the work of up to 5 animal care staff and will report to the site attending veterinarian. The successful candidate will possess strong skills in training and management as well as written and oral communication. Other duties include assisting with acquisition of study animals and supplies.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

DVM (licensed to practice in the US with eligibility to license in KS)

Required Experience and Skills:

*
Strong written and verbal skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

*
A minimum of 1 year of general experience working with swine and/or cattle.

*
General large animal farm management.

*
Experience working with horses and dogs.

*
MS, PhD or other research experience.
