The School of Mathematics and Physics
The discipline of Physics is located in the School of Mathematics and Physics in the Faculty of Science. The Discipline is internationally recognised for its research excellence and hosts a number of first-class research centres. The role
Successful applicants will undertake a PhD, engaging in cutting edge research in organic semiconductors and devices related to the development of organic photo-detectors. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Namdas at UQ’s Centre for Organic Photonics and Electronics (COPE) (http://www.physics.uq.edu.au/cope/node/2).
The person
The applicant will have a Masters degree or Bachelor degree with 1st Class Honours (or equivalent) in Physics or Engineering with skills and experience in condensed matter physics or semiconductors or optics. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for a Research Training Project scholarship (for more information, please visit: http://www.uq.edu.au/grad-school/scholarships-and-fees). A strong background in condensed matter physics / optics / semiconductors is desirable (http://scholarships.uq.edu.au/scholarship/australian-postgraduate-award-apa ).
Remuneration
The base stipend will be at the rate of AUD $26,682 per annum (2017 rate) tax-free for three years with the possibility of a six month extension in approved circumstances.
Mandatory requirements for applicants
1. Excellent academic performance to Honours/Masters level, evidenced by a high Grade Point Average (GPA); and
2. International applicants must meet the University of Queensland's English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements, detailed at http://www.uq.edu.au/grad-school/english-language-proficiency-requirements
Desirable requirements for international applicants
At least 2 peer-reviewed research publications.
