As a Solutions Engineer at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives.

Be an integral part of the next-generation transformation of technology management ecosystem supporting Merck’s IT delivery portfolio, including resource, project and finance management. As both a holistic architect and hands-on implementer, collaborate with business leads and technical peers to understand and optimize and innovate business requirements, and then distill them into actionable designs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Work in a cross functional team (agile/develops) to orchestrate and code/configure the solution space.

*
Work with our business leads to research and pursue best-in-breed external standards and capabilities for this space.

*
Collaborate closely with other platform groups to leverage and assemble existing APIs and services to achieve reliability, scale and best-in-breed capabilities for the solution.

*
Lead planning, execution, and reporting activities for these strategic activities and become the trusted advisor of the business partners.

*
Act as a proactive communicator to insure the initiative is transparent and easily understood to the community at large as well as the cross-functional technical team.

*
Ensure Merck technology standards compliance.

Qualifications

Education:

*
B.S. or higher in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields or equivalent experience.

Required:

*
Outstanding communication (written, oral, presentation), negotiation, influencing and relationship .

*
At least 5 years of experience including implementation of large scaled solutions in a heterogeneous services, platforms, and APIs using the both legacy and recent technologies.

*
Demonstrated experience with interfacing Microsoft technologies to other open and proprietary ecosystems at scale.

*
Competent in the use of project management and analytical software tools. Knowledge of MS Project Server and SharePoint project portfolio management processes and reporting tools.

*
Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.

*
The ability to work independently and effectively as a team across global hubs, and maintain a highly collaborative, transparent effort.

Preferred:

*
Understanding of Systems of Record, Systems of Engagement and the methods to implement with them.

*
Any Experience with MSPS, Sharepoint, Azure, AWS, Apigee, SAP, PowerBi, Informatica, Hadoop, JIRA, Agile, Blockchain, DevOps and other large ecosystem technologies and practices.

*
A solid mix of experience spanning both Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies.

*
Solid understanding of the value of Analytics, Big Data/Data Lake concepts and other disciplines than underpin good Analytics practices.

*
Experience working in regulated environments. (SDLC, Compliance, GxP, Governance).

*
Ability to coach and mentor junior program and project managers.
