Finance at UQ operates within a devolved environment with Finance staff located in Professional Services teams in Faculties, Research Institutes and Central Divisions supported by Finance specialist service teams. The position is part of the Collections and Receivables stream within the Financial Operations team for Finance.

The role

With a key focus on supervising and providing daily direction to a small team, you will manage performance and establish clear goals engaging the team to meet deadlines and perform work effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and policies. 

You will be responsible for managing the University’s day-to-day receipts, and provide expert advice and operational support to business units regarding various payment channel options and the use of ecommerce applications. You will be required to continually evaluate and review processes and procedures and be responsible for leading change management initiatives including projects and working groups. 

You will identify, prepare, and deliver training programs in consultation with key stakeholders and support the Manager, Collections and Receivables with the production of financial information and reporting requirements. Monthly reconciliation of key clearing and suspense accounts will form part of your duties, along with investigation into resolving unidentified payments. 

The person

Applicants should possess a relevant degree with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training; proven ability to supervise staff with emphasis on establishing priorities and building capabilities within teams; demonstrated experience managing financial processes, particularly relating to receipting finance, incoming banking arrangements and account reconciliations; highly developed interpersonal skills with proven ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and a skillset which showcases advanced organisational and problem solving ability, excellent attention to detail and financial acuity using specialised accounting software.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,884 - $89,559 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,803.87 - $104,784.21 p.a.).
