CLINICAL / COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will actively participate in the following areas:
- Providing psychotherapeutic clinical / counselling services to students / young adults to ensure academic and emotional wellness;
- Performing group work sessions as part of the co-curricular programme for students / young adults;
- The development of training and therapeutic programmes in view of the identified needs of students / young adults;
- Performing data analysing as part of the research process.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- MA or MSc degree in Clinical / Counselling Psychology;
- Proven experience with students / young adults;
- At least three years’ proven experience as registered psychologist, including an internship year;
- Registration as Psychologist with HPCSA.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Interpersonal and administration skills;
- Appropriate language and communication skills;
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail);
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team;
- Good judgement;
- Planning, organising and prioritising skills;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Professionalism, confidentiality and sensitivity towards the diversity of students.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- PhD in Clinical / Counselling Psychology;
- Proven experience as a Counselling / Clinical Psychologist at a tertiary institution.
The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 506 167 to R 623 921 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
