Location: Highfield Campus

Salary:  £29,301 Pro rata per annum

Full Time Fixed Term (6 Months)

A researcher is sought to join the project “Female-Breadwinner Families in Europe”, funded under the ESRC Future Research Leaders scheme. The project examines the implications of the emergence of female breadwinners and women as main earners in the UK by studying a series of social and demographic outcomes relating to the lives of women, men and their children.

You will have (or be close to completing) a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications/experience  in Sociology, Demography, Economics or other related Social Sciences disciplines,  strong quantitative analysis skills, proficiency in using STATA and previous experience with Understanding Society data. Familiarity with the Millennium Cohort Study data would be advantageous.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

The position is tenable from the 2 October 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and has a duration of 6 months full-time. You will be based at and affiliated with the University of Southampton and ESRC Centre for Population Change.
