Call for One Open Ph.D. position at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (Poland) in the frame of SONATA Bis project entitled “Nanoengineering of thin layers of semiconductor photocatalysts in a microreactor environment for lignin-based model compounds valorization” funded by the National Science Centre in Poland.

Remuneration:

Highly competitive Ph.D. Polish stipend (3000 PLN, tax-free) and a ¼ time contract. Social benefits: private medical care; possible hotel accommodation for PhD. students. Candidate profile

  • Passion for natural sciences, a strong motivation for scientific work and open mind, willingness of carrying out interdisciplinary research.
  • A university degree in chemistry or physics; achieved professional title of magister (or equivalent) obtained no earlier than three years ago or master thesis with a designated approaching date of defense (the latest - September 2017.);
  • Distinctions granted by virtue of scientific research, grants, awards and scientific experience acquired outside your own research work place in the country or abroad; participation in workshops and scientific trainings; participation in research projects.
  • Experience in conducting scientific research in the field of catalysis.
  • At least the opinions of two independent research scientists, specialists in the field of chemistry and related sciences.
  • English knowledge to the degree necessary for independent scientific work.
  • Very welcome are publications in reputable publishing houses / scientific journals.


In the first stage of the competition procedure, the applicants who meet the formal requirements will be invited for an interview for the International PhD Studies (MSD) at the IPC-PAN (It will be carried out at 02.October.2017). Candidates who will obtain high mark will take part in the second stage which is based on an interview conducted by the Recruitment Commission (03.October.2017 at the IPC-PAN) within the framework of the "Rules of granting scholarships to young scientists in research projects" (the National Science Centre, Sonata Bis 5, Annex 7) and based on the commission’s ratings will be set up ranking list, and then sent to candidates by e-mail. Scientific scholarship in the project will accorded to the first person who will receive the highest number of points. The International Ph.D. Studies (MSD) at the IPC-PAN will be start from 02.November.2017.
