Job Details

This post offers an excellent opportunity for either an experienced medical statistician with an interest in economic modelling or an experienced health economist with good modelling and statistical skills. The post-holder will join the MRC-funded ConDuCT-II (Collaboration and innovation in Difficult and Complex randomised controlled Trials In Invasive procedures) Hub for Trials Methodology Research within the School of Social and Community Medicine (http://www.bris.ac.uk/social-community-medicine/centres/conduct2/).

This post is linked to the theme on “prioritisation and design of trials for cost effectiveness analysis”, working on novel methods for trial design that are grounded in a decision-theoretic approach, via Expected Value of Information (VOI) calculations. VOI calculations require the development of a cost-effectiveness model, statistical synthesis of relevant available evidence, and optimisation over the space of possible trial designs.

The post-holder will also join a team of statisticians working on a programme of research on multi-parameter evidence synthesis (MPES) in decision modelling and epidemiology, ( http://www.bristol.ac.uk/social-community-medicine/projects/mpes/), and also join the Health Economics at the University of Bristol (HEB) team: http://www.bris.ac.uk/social-community-medicine/centres/healthecon.
