DIVISION OF CLINICAL AND METABOLIC GENETICS

A full-time permanent faculty position as a Medical Geneticist in the Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics, Department of Paedatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Ave., Toronto, ON which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children; affiliated with the University of Toronto is available effective January 1, 2018. 

The Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics has a long tradition of excellence in clinical care, education and innovative research. Independent and collaborative clinical and basic research is performed by Division members. The Genomic Clinic at the Division is devoted to discovering new diagnostic and treatment options in children and has pioneered the use of whole genome sequencing testing to help diagnose paediatric health conditions, make better predictions of disease progression, and guide treatment choices. The Division hosts both residency and fellowship training programs which are fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists. The Division and the University of Toronto co-sponsor an MSc Program for Genetic Counselling.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be certified by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Medical Genetics and Genomics or have completed equivalent training. The candidate should have experience in genomic medicine and have demonstrated leadership and collaborative research skills. In addition the candidate should be interested in the clinical evaluation of patients with a variety of genetic conditions and have an established area of focus, or be interested in developing such expertise.

The candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($210,000-280,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and may be eligible for a relocation package.
