Summary
We are seeking a seasoned, creative mechanical engineering leader who will work in a cross functional team environment of both engineering and scientific disciplines. The incumbent will research, develop, design, test and document improvements to PerkinElmer’s automation and microfluidic instruments from a mechanical perspective, working closely with a cross-functional group including application, software, firmware, and/or electrical engineers. The exciting and fast paced environment of the Hopkinton campus provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with top engineers and scientists both locally and globally.

- Mechanical Engineering R&D team leader supporting the development of next generation of liquid handling and microfluidic instrumentation
- As part of an innovative R&D culture, participate in developing patentable concepts, designs, and processes; and participate in filing patents
- Lead proof-of-concept prototype efforts utilizing both internal and external prototyping capabilities
- Interact with the operations, quality, field service and product management groups to assist in knowledge transfer, product transition, and technical support of PerkinElmer products
- Provide mechanical engineering team leadership and technical direction
- Work individually and in design teams in order to provide innovative design solutions
- Attend relevant conferences and maintain working knowledge of new advancements in the mechanical engineering discipline
- Use SolidWorks and Agile Product Lifecycle Management tools to generate and maintain product documentation including solid models, drawings, specifications, bills of material, and change orders
- Follow an ISO13485 product development process from conceptual design through development, manufacturing transition, and commercial release of new products
