The UQ Centre for Health Services Research
The UQ Centre for Health Services Research is one of five Research Centres within the Faculty of Medicine. Established in 2017, the primary purpose of the Centre is to improve the delivery of health care through research which examines health systems performance and identifies mechanisms to improve access, effectiveness and efficiency. The Centre has research strengths in telehealth, geriatric medicine and aged care, renal medicine, clinical trial design and administration and biostatistics and engages over 20 clinicians and research staff, over 20 professional staff and 20 research higher degree students. The Centre works closely with the other Research Centres in the Faculty of Medicine (UQDI, UQCCR, UQ CHRC), with the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences and with Metro South Hospital and Health Services. The Centre hosts the NHMRC CRE in Telehealth, the Australasian Kidney Trials Network, the Centre for Online Health and the Centre for Research in Geriatric Medicine.
The UQCHSR is located on the Princess Alexandra Hospital campus in Woolloongabba, South Brisbane, with activities based in the Hospital, the Translational Research Institute and associated with research activities across Australia and internationally.
The vision of the UQCHSR is to improve health outcomes for patients, with a particular focus on those with chronic disease or frailty, for remote communities and for those with other forms of disadvantage or vulnerability. This will be achieved through strong engagement with researchers and practitioners across the translational spectrum, from basic, through clinical and health trials, to implementation, to enable outcomes such as improved health care services, new clinical products, policies or educational improvements. UQCHSR will be recognized for its strong engagement with hospitals and industry, and outcomes arising from addressing clinically important research questions. It will also have a reputation for the provision of outstanding clinical research training, pre-clinical and clinical research services (e.g. clinical trials design and data analysis), and clinical trial linked service provision.
The primary purpose of the position is to establish and lead a research group, conducting high quality research in the field of health services research. The research program will engage in collaborative research with other members of the UQ Centre for Health Services Research and other groups within the Faculty of Medicine to maximise opportunities for research outcomes.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a research focused academic with high level of expertise in behavioural science. The successful applicant to this post will have a PhD in health services research in an area of relevance to behavioural science and the research activities of the Centre and an outstanding track record in research as evidenced by high impact and cited publications, mentoring outcomes and international profile.
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment at Academic Level E. The base remuneration package for Academic Level E will be $175,071 p.a. plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%. Eligible staff may also receive payment of a clinical loading.
