Job Details
This PhD project will aim at enhancing the performance of high temperature solid oxide fuel cell systems in terms of both efficiency and life span through the integration of thermal energy storage. It will involve the investigation into the configuration of the integrated thermo-chemical-electrical systems, multiscale modelling and optimisation of such integrated system at both the components and system levels, and design and construction of an experimental rig to validate the modelling.
The work will take into account the characteristics of thermal energy storage based on composite phase change materials (including chemical and physical compatibility, temperature range, response time, efficiency, manufacturability and lifespan), thermo-electrochemical conversion, and cascading use of energy / exergy.
