The School of Agriculture and Food Sciences is one of the largest agricultural schools in Australia, comprising research and teaching experts in agribusiness, animals and wildlife, environment, plants and soil, and food and nutrition. The role
The Farm Manager CRU, supports teaching and research through overall management of the crop research unit. The farm operates on a fee for service basis and services both internal and external clients. The farm manager position oversees the day to day farm operation and provides advice and expertise to service clients’ needs in the execution of their trials and research projects. The role is responsible also for the farm’s facilities and assets, staffing, business processes and client relations
Please note: This role is based at the Gatton Campus and reports to the School Manager.
The person
Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree in agronomy and/or horticulture, or a combination of skills, knowledge, training and experience in a comparable role or workplace. Strong knowledge demonstrated across, areas of farm management. Knowledge and skills in operating farm machinery, pest control, crop production, crop hygiene, irrigation and fertilisation, and ability to provide ad-hoc training including handle agricultural chemicals. Ideal candidate will have skills in organising and coordinating research trials. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, commitment to customer service, and an ability to bring out the best in a team, are essential.
Remuneration
This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207.07 - $79,964.50 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822.27 - $93,558.47 p.a.).
