Research Fellow in Applied Driver Modelling for Autonomous Vehicle Development

Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a strong foundation in both quantitative modelling and in human psychology and behaviour? Do you want to contribute to building the automated transportation system of tomorrow?

Working across the Institute for Transport Studies you will join a unique, cross-disciplinary team and contribute to a major research project sponsored by Innovate UK to develop a Level 4 automated vehicle. Using simulator and on-road studies and experiments, you will develop quantitative models of road user behaviour to assist in developing automated vehicle control logic that can mimic the driving style and preferences of their current passenger. Experiments will be executed in the University of Leeds Driving Simulator (the most advanced in the UK) and on the road using the prototype Level 4 vehicle.

With a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, or closely allied disciplines, you will combine extensive experience in mathematical modelling and scientific programming with a strong grasp of current neuroscientific and psychological models of human behaviour.
