GENERAL SUMMARY:

- The Specialist, Technical Operations, is responsible for providing technical support to the manufacturing area while actively supporting, participating in and embracing an empowered team culture.
GENERAL PROFILE:

- Contributes to the performance and results of a department.
- Provides technical guidance.
- Anticipates and interprets client and/or customer needs to identify and implement solutions.
BUSINESS EXPERTISE:

- Applies technical skills to align activities with department objectives.
FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE:

- Leads and/or works independently as a team member on manufacturing investigations, validation and/or process improvement projects.
- Has ability to examine an issue from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people) in order to best understand and resolve the root cause.
- Monitors the health of the process through continuous monitoring and the annual process review or continuing validation activities. Assures consistent application of standardized work, engineering and process tools.
- Provides technical support to manufacturing shop floor for non-routine problems and issues.
- Conducts and may design experimental protocols as needed using the Technical Operations lab facilities and/or production equipment at full scale.
- Authors and updates technical and manufacturing documents necessary for investigations, process design/definition, engineering studies, process demonstrations, change control and validation.
- Participates in regulatory inspection activities for the facility.

- Identifies and resolves technical and operational problems using lean/six sigma tools.
- Effectively collaborates with peers on site and above site as required.
- Resolves non-routine issues appropriately using standard procedures for guidance.

- Accountability- Accountable for the individual performance.
- Decision Making - Makes decisions guided by policies, procedures and department objectives.
STRATEGIC PLANNING:

- Supports departmental plans and priorities based on department scorecard to address local business, service and operational challenges.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:

- Forecasts individual contributor resource needs and needs for projects.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Science (Biology, Chemistry, or related)
Required:

- Minimum 2 years’ post-Bachelor’s experience in GMP manufacturing and/or technical support of GMP manufacturing operations – OR – Master’s Degree – OR – PhD Degree
Preferred:

- Experience in biologics, vaccine or bulk sterile manufacturing facilities.
- Six Sigma certification.
- Experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously, including leading small projects
