Summary: The Application Development Leader oversees the Applications Development Group for Applied Genomics R&D. This role provides leadership in both the microfluidics and liquid handling and automation product lines. This role requires in-depth understanding of the technology behind both the microfluidic products and the liquid handling platforms. This position will provide functional management of the application scientists and developers to balance resources across competing priorities, reviewing experimental design, and assuring that valid conclusions are drawn from accurate interpretation of experimental results. The Leader will work regularly with quality assurance, microfluidic chip and reagent manufacturing, product management, and marketing to ensure projects comply with the PerkinElmer new product introduction process. The position also ensures support of the global PerkinElmer automation and microfluidics business by working as necessary with customer support and field applications organizations to provide troubleshooting for performance issues with the platform and to provide training and marketing material for new assay releases. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and facilitate the commercialization of new assays in both Microfluidics and Automated Liquid Handling product lines.
  • Create and maintain a culture of accountability by setting milestones and timelines for projects, prioritizing tasks, contributing to experimental design, reviewing data analysis, and discussing conclusions.
  • Active participation in voice of customer (VOC) efforts and development of VOC interviews and customer visits.
  • Manage critical collaboration efforts internally across sites/business units, as well as serving as the R&D expert for external collaborations and partnerships.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for any performance issues within Applied Genomics product lines
  • Provide trainings, technical expertise, and marketing collateral on the platform, its applications, and new assay products to support the global sales organization.
  • Participate in strategic goal settings, R&D prioritization, and other business planning activities.
