Job Details

Do you have experience of postgraduate level research in philosophy, theology and religious studies, or history and philosophy of science? Do you possess experience of working with non-academic audiences, groups and organisations? Are you passionate about demonstrating the value of academic research to wider society?

Funded by the School’s Strategic Investment Fund this role aims to enhance the quality of and build evidence for the impact of research carried out across the School. This is primarily with a view to creating higher-quality impact case studies for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission of the School’s two main subject areas: philosophy and theology and religious studies.

You will have three main areas of responsibility. First, to work with selected academic staff across the School and our associated unit, IDEA/CETL (Interdisciplinary Ethics Applied Centre), to generate, record and organise evidence of impact arising from research. Second, to carry out systematic reviews of impact excellence and best practice across the arts and humanities to inform strategic decisions about impact activity, including analysis of the REF impact criteria. Finally, to assist in the planning and delivery of activities, such as workshops, lectures etc., working with non-academic audiences to maximise impact. You will be based at the University of Leeds and appropriate mentorship and career development support will be provided in line with career stage as part of the role.

You will have experience of postgraduate level research within one of the major areas of the School as well as an understanding of impact in the context of Higher Education.

  • a supporting statement (max. 300 words) evidencing how you believe your existing knowledge and experience equips you to carry out the role;
  • a copy of your curriculum vitae giving full details of qualifications and experience (2 page maximum)
